Dodik: Republika Srpska mulls paying for Russian gas in rubles

MOSCOW, May 26 (PRIME) -- Republika Srpska is considering paying for Russian gas in rubles, President Milorad Dodik told PRIME in an interview released Friday.

Dodik met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, and the officials discussed cooperation in the sphere of energy. "During our meeting with Putin a position was stated that the price of Russian gas shipped to the republic remains the same. As for financing, various payment methods and opportunities are under consideration," he said.

"We respect the Russian side and will respect their requirements," Dodik said, when asked about the possibility of payments in rubles.

Republika Srpska also expects that construction of a gas pipeline from Serbia to accept Russian gas will start in 2023, Dodik said.
